Property description

Wander along the High Street, up the hill and as you reach the brow find this charming period cottage, opposite Staplehurst church and at the heart of this sought after Wealden village. Dating back to approximately the year 1600, with oodles of charming features and gorgeous fireplaces, it’s easy to let your imagination wander to days gone by, when horse drawn carts would clatter by the window and traders would pass calling out their wares.

Lovingly restored by its current owner, the sitting/dining room displays a wealth of original features. Known as “The Georgian Room” with original cornicing, dado rail, intricately carved door surround, cast iron open fireplace and Regency style wallpaper, this really is a room to transport you back to another era.

Decorated throughout, all you need do is move in and unpack. The spacious kitchen/breakfast room overlooks the back garden. This charming courtyard garden is a real sun trap throughout the day; a perfect spot to enjoy tea with friends, the afternoon sun streaming through, or lay up the table for supper for the children after school. With a short walk to the shops, schools, and mainline station, and parking available (not allocated) for your car nearby, this is a home that won’t be on the market for long.

What the Owner says:

This is a great little cottage which I fell in love with when I bought it and still love just as much today, I relish its character and take pride in the work I have done to restore its original features.

I have redecorated and refurbished throughout, so there is now a new kitchen, new boiler, three bespoke oak doors upstairs; wherever possible I have used original materials, for example, when repairing the roof, slipped tiles were replaced using originals.

This is now a home just ready and waiting for a new owner to cherish its charm.
