Property description
A large 2/3 bedroomed cottage in this pretty village, in need of some updating but with garden and outbuildings – vacant and we have the keys, call to view.
Located in the heart of the popular Mid Devon village of Coleford, a conservation village with an active community and popular Inn, this 2/3 bedroomed cottage is well placed. The village is only 3 miles from Crediton with all it’s amenities including High Street, schools and public transport on to Exeter (a further 6 miles).
Corner Cottage is a thatched mid-terraced grade II listed property and was formerly part used as the village shop. It is full of character with window seats, fireplaces and exposed beams. The rooms are generously sized with flexibility as the dining room could be used as a ground floor 3rd bedroom if required. The main bathroom is on the first floor along with two double bedrooms.
Outside is a garden to the rear, enclosed by fencing and a shared pathway gives rear pedestrian access to the country lane. There is also a collection of outbuildings that offer good storage (bins/bikes etc).
Coleford is a journey back in time, a prime example of a traditional Devon hamlet. It is a designated conservation area, with a whole host of irreplaceable listed cottages and buildings. It is also home to ‘The New Inn’, known locally for its outstanding food. It is no secret that Coleford is a beautiful village – but it is also fit for a king. King Charles 1 is said to have visited Coleford during the civil war, stabling his horses there on the 22nd of July 1644, and inspecting his troops from the porch of Spencer Cottage. The nearest market town to Coleford, for a selection of modern facilities is Crediton – 3 miles to the west.
DIRECTIONS
From Crediton, take the A377 towards Copplestone, turning left as signed to Coleford at Barnstaple Cross. Continue on the country lane until arriving in Coleford. Pass The New Inn on your right and over the small bridge, Corner Cottage is on the left as you reach the junction.
