Property description
The fascinating this property in Wingham is a delightful converted Methodist chapel. Building work started on the refurbishment in 2007 and it was completed two years later. This lovely family home provides attractive modern accommodation with an easy-to-manage fenced and walled garden backing on to farmland, providing fabulous views across the surrounding Kent countryside. Once through the front porch you can see straight through to the dining area providing a mostly open-plan space from the charming library ‘nook’ where you can curl up with a book or enjoy some quiet hobby time, through the large sitting room to the dining area and kitchen overlooking to the garden. It makes a great overall space for entertaining and is an ideal spot for a children’s party or an adult get-together. The well equipped kitchen includes two builtin ovens, a hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher and family and friends will enjoy sitting round the table having a chat and a meal or wandering outside through the French doors.
There is an attractive decked patio leading to the lawn for those summer barbecues and, in the garden, is a chalet, trees and flower beds. You will find a very useful office just inside the front door so business visitors won’t need to wander through the whole house. Upstairs, there are three double bedrooms with great views including the master with an en suite shower and a family bathroom with both a bath and a walk-in double shower.
Outside, there is off-road parking for two or three cars. Because of the historical church outer walls the insulation is amazing so it is lovely and cool in the summer yet energy bills are surprisingly small in the winter as it is excellent at retaining the heat.
What the Owner says:
I bought this house directly from the builder seven years ago as I already lived in the village so I had watched its transformation over a couple of years from a shell to the home it is today. However, family and work commitments mean we need to move, although we shall really miss our lovely home and the village we live in.
Wingham is a very special village. It has everything you could want – an excellent primary school, shop and post office, two very good pubs and restaurants as well as a regular country market and an excellent farm shop nearby. The village hall offers plenty of activities if you want to join in from toddler groups to the Sunny and Bright Club for the senior members of the community. The Anchor is an excellent family-friendly pub and puts on a number of events for children.
There are also regular bus services as well as school buses to Canterbury and Sandwich and the Thanet towns. There are plenty of great places to walk the dogs and the kids will enjoy a visit to Wingham Wildlife Park. In addition, we are only a short distance from the city of Canterbury with its historic buildings, high-street stores, individual shops, universities, schools, theatres and restaurants.
