Property description
This fabulous family home was converted in the 1950's and was part of a large Victorian detached house. Set in extensive grounds of 1.31 acres, this home provides a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Elevated from the road and screened by trees, the large frontage keeps this home private and offers the sense of seclusion with the driveway providing parking for quite a few cars. You can imagine pulling up outside after a busy day at work and feel your worries melt away.
The rear garden will make you the envy of your friends as it is vast with extensive lawns and a meadow area right at the bottom. You could erect a marquee and host family events such as barbeques and birthday parties. After running around and letting off steam in the meadow, your children or grandchildren would love to play in the eco-friendly barn. A keen gardener would be in their element as there is scope to further develop the planting areas and orchard.
After picking fruit from the apple, plum, medlar and cherry trees, you could take your trug back to the kitchen/breakfast room where you can picture yourself making fresh jam or pies.
As a family home, there is plenty of living space with a large lounge and dining room. You can even work from home in the study, which will give you more time to enjoy your surroundings.
What the Owner says:
23 years ago, we moved from London so that we could have a wonderful life in the country. Not only did our children have a great education at the excellent local primary and secondary schools, but they also had great adventures making dens and camps in our large garden. The huge space also meant we could have great parties but also grow our own vegetables, and even keep hens, pigs and geese! We’ve loved living here. As a Victorian house, it has a feeling of grandeur and space. But the kitchen is the heart of our home – we’ve just loved sharing a cuppa with friends next to the Rayburn.
We still commute to London from Westenhanger – and can arrive at St Pancras in just 55 minutes.
