Property description

It is the location that immediately bowls you over. From the rear windows there is a wonderful view over the garden, which adjoins a field with horses quietly grazing. Looking back on the house from the garden, you will see a well maintained exterior, complete with cat slide roof adorned with traditional Kent peg tiles.

In recent years the downstairs has been extended and refurbished, using materials and a design that is totally in keeping with the older part of the property. The older part of the house contains all of the original features such as the inglenook fireplace (complete with traditional bread oven) and original oak beams throughout. The addition of the wood burner makes the lounge a great place to curl up on the sofa on cold winter nights.

The kitchen/dining room is wonderful with its solid wood units and has lots of charming features, including a butler sink, stunning oak beams and solid oak floorboards. There is plenty of storage space and you can prepare a feast to serve on a big table in the dining area: just picture a nicely dressed table and shining cutlery!

Wrap yourself in the history of the property in the master bedroom and bedroom 3; exposed beams and views over the front and rear really make you feel that you are in the middle of the countryside. The master bedroom also has en-suite facilities and a charming ducks nest cast iron fireplace.

What the Owner says:

When I first saw this cottage I immediately fell in love with it, it looks as though it has come straight off the top of an old fashioned box of chocolates. It has ample parking space (I’ve actually managed 6 cars at a squeeze!) and a good sized sunny garden which is easy to maintain and great for entertaining guests. I especially love the inside of the house. I’ve always been fascinated by the older beams, which appear to have been salvaged from ship timbers, some of which feature centuries old carvings.

On a personal note, I shall be very sad to leave this house in which I have lived for the last 13 years. The house has a uniquely special character, which I hope the new owners will come to love as much as I have.
