Situated in the centre of the rural village of Batcombe which is a parish in the east of Somerset, Batcombe is about 5 miles south-east of Shepton Mallet, 7.5 miles south-west of Frome and approximately 3 miles from Bruton and consists of the villages of Batcombe and Westcombe together with a number of outlying hamlets and farmsteads. At the centre of the parish lies St Mary's Church with its magnificent 16th century tower, the Three Horseshoes pub, and a community centre consisting of the award-winning Jubilee Hall and the Old School Rooms. Facilities in the three local towns are many and varied, including supermarkets, post offices, hospitals & health centres, libraries, museums, pharmacies, vets and numerous other useful shops. There is also an agreeable selection of inns and restaurants in the locality. Locally there is a sought after C of E primary school in the near by village of Upton Noble. Other schools locally in the small town of Bruton are Kings which dates back to 1519, Bruton School for girls, Sexey's county boarding school which includes a sixth form college.
