The Isle of Wight

East Cowes



East Cowes is a coastal town on the north side of the island and has an excellent range of facilities and amenities including primary schools, marina, 9 hole golf course, shops, a new medical centre and Osborne House, the former marine residence of Queen Victoria. Recently there have been significant improvements in the town including a new Waitrose supermarket. There is easy access to the regular car and passenger ferry services direct to Southampton (55minutes) and a floating bridge ferry linking to the famous yachting town of Cowes. Both Cowes and East Cowes have extensive marina facilities. Bus services are available into the island's capital town of Newport and the coastal resort of Ryde.



West Cowes



Cowes is host to Cowes Week, one of the most famous sailing regattas in the world, the pinnacle of the racing calendar. This is followed by events such as Little Britain and the Powerboat Festival. The Round the Island Race, with over 1500 entries, is a spectacular sight in June and each week throughout the year there is activity on the water. There are many Yacht Clubs in Cowes including the Royal Yacht Squadron. Cowes town has a wide variety of shops and facilities. There is a medical centre, dentist and veterinary surgery in the town. There is a choice of primary schools, and a high school.
