Seafield Lodge has been somewhat of a talking point in passing for any local or visitor to the area with its decorative fascia boards showing the distinctive initials S F within them.   As far as we are aware Seafield Lodge was built as part of the Seafield Manor estate and grandly presided over the entrance to the grounds.
The original manor house building was constructed circa 1872 and used as a boys preparatory boarding school for many years until it was requisitioned by the Admiralty at the start of WWII as a Signal Training School and subsequently destroyed by fire in 1946.
Seafield Park later became the Royal Naval Survival Equipment School but in 1991 this school relocated to HMS Daedalus, although the grounds and sports fields were still in active use and owned by the Ministry of Defence.  The site of the old Manor House of Seafield Park came into Fareham Borough Council ownership around a decade ago when the Council began preparing and improving the ground to provide the facilities available today, and designated the park as a public open space.
