Property description
THE PROPERTY The Basley is a delightful and very individual semi-detached three-storey cottage with a wonderful combination of traditional Period features together with more contemporary architectural elements including a purpose built conical timber staircase.
One of the delights of living in a cottage on the edge of a popular village like Leighterton is the very attractive views towards the arboretum and south over farmland, and the Basley is no exception.
An entrance hall with Velux window leads to the cloakroom. There is an excellent sized lounge/dining room complete with log burner on a flagstone hearth, windows to either side and double French doors into the rear garden. The kitchen/breakfast room also makes the most of the views with its range of limed oak units, integrated double oven, ceramic hob and fridge, and handsome African slate tiled floor. There is a door from the kitchen into a recently added porch/boot room with its flagstone floor and double glazed windows and door out onto the garden.
At first floor level are bedrooms two and three with bedroom three ideally suited to a study/nursery, and they share a family shower room. A staircase then leads up into the master bedroom with its beautiful exposed beams in the vaulted ceiling and dormer windows to either side making the most of the views. Here there is an en suite bathroom with a Heritage style suite and dormer window.
The cottage is in a unique location within the village opposite the duck pond, there is a very pleasant and mature garden to the rear with a number of mature trees and colourful flower borders. At the foot of the garden a five-bar gate opens from the lane onto a drive with ample parking for four or five cars, and where there is a timber and felted garden shed and a summerhouse.
