Property description

In the pretty village of Shottenden, which is referenced as far back as 1175 you will find this beautiful period cottage which was formally part of the village post office site.

Peeking through the sash windows and stepping through the quaint sunshine yellow door you will be surprised by just how light and bright the lounge/dining area is. In the spring this will brighten up your mornings as you come downstairs for your morning coffee. The winter will be just as enjoyable in this room though, with the attractive log burner perfect for gathering with the family, warming up listening to the crackling of the fire. With two double bedrooms guests will be more than welcome to stay the night, the perfect reason to open up another bottle of wine at the barbeque with friends this summer. After all, you will want to show off your beautiful cottage style gardens. It is not just the rear garden, the front garden with pretty white picket fence screams ‘rural lifestyle’. An ancient hamlet, Shottenden formed around the local farms – perhaps you will decide to continue this tradition and grow your own fruit and veg?

A rambler’s dream, there are some amazing walks through lanes, fields and woodlands. The nearby villages of Chilham and Selling offer the all-important country pubs and some local amenities. You are also approximately 8 miles from Canterbury City centre, with its huge choice of shops and historic sites and then 6’5 miles from the pretty market town of Faversham.

What the Owner says:

We have owned this property for over 10 years now and it has been our perfect ‘escape’ from the busy day to day life of living in London. What started as a weekend home has now come to be known as our main house as we love the lifestyle so much! So much, in fact that we are now looking to sell our London home and come to ‘live the good life’ full time. This does mean that we would like a slightly bigger space and we will miss this cottage so much. The garden has been a retreat for us and many a summer’s evening has been out there! In the winter the log burner really does heat the whole house and we do not need to use the heaters.
