Property description

Castle Acre Priory is believed to have been founded in 1089 by William de Warenne the son the 1st Earl of Surrey who had founded England`s first Cluniac priory at Lewes in 1077. Originally the priory was sited within the walls of Castle Acre Castle, but this proved too small and inconvenient for the monks and the priory was relocated to the present site in the castle grounds.

With a village green where two tea rooms, bed and breakfast, a toy shop and a pub can be found. Other amenities include a church and a grocery shop.

The village is ideally located for walking with plenty of country walks and the River Nar flowing through nearby fields.

Castle Acre is located approximately four miles from the market town of Swaffham with a good selection of shops and restaurants. The town is well catered for with local supermarkets including a Waitrose, an excellent Saturday market, three doctors surgeries and free parking throughout the town.

The property offers a lounge/diner, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and courtyard garden, the garden has the original bread oven in situ, the property further benefits from oil central heating and is offered with no upward chain.
