Property description
If you're looking for a character cottage full of charm, beams and quirky features, this could be for you. The good size lounge area is the perfect spot to relax in with a large fireplace complete with a gas fire providing immediate warmth. There is a separate dining area so it's perfect if you have family and friends over for dinner or Sunday lunch. The kitchen area is a good size if you enjoy cooking and overlooks the garden so is ideal if you have children and need to keep an eye on them while they play outside. There is also a breakfast room/study which is perfect to use on an everyday basis. With 2 double bedrooms, an en-suite and a utility cupboard on the first floor this cottage provides a lot more space than you would initially imagine. There is also a downstairs bathroom so no arguing or queues in the morning while you're all trying to get out of the house. The loft room is a really unusual space and is ideal for an occasional guest bedroom/study and a room children will love. Enter through the small door 'Alice in Wonderland' style and the room is separated into two by a large beam running across - duck under this and jump into bed! Outside there is a good size rear garden complete with a pond with water lilies and in the warmer months it's a real joy to be in with roses and an apple tree. The garage has a parking space in front and is situated next to the car park of the Footcare Centre and accessed via Station Road. A real treat to find such an old property with plenty of character and history hidden in its walls yet being so close to town.
What the Owner says:
I have owned this cottage, which was built around 1750, for 25 years and have really loved living here. It is in a great location being a flat walk into town and with all three train stations within easy reach. As it is accessed via a footpath it is a very quiet location and with all the greenery at the front of the house it feels like living in the country and hard to believe that it is only a few minutes walk into town. Since living here I put in the en-suite, updated the kitchen around 5 years ago with limed oak units and over the last 10 years I have had a new boiler installed, a new pump, thermostat and programmer. I have also re-decorated, re-carpeted and had new 'Karndean' flooring in the bathroom and kitchen. I am now looking to move closer to my family.
