Elmbridge Hall is a luxuriously converted former private school. It has been meticulously transformed into a series of dwellings that offer enormous style and quality of accommodation, in a delightful setting.
Elmbridge hall was built in 1884 as a children's school, the school was owned by the West Ham Authority for a long time and was used as a special school for delicate children until it was sold to Essex County in 1956 due to a diminishing demand and the increase in health standards. Fyfield then opened in 1958, with available space for only 90 boys and girls, the school had to expand to accommodate 250 pupils and extra staff, complete and full in 1962. When the school was closed and the children were relocated to the Hockerill College in Bishops Stortford, the site was then sold on for development. The development was completed in 2001 creating 18 high standard units (8 freehold & 10 Leasehold). This new development was awarded the Epping Forest Design award for heritage conservation in 2001.
