From our office in Newgate Street turn left, at the traffic lights turn right and at the next set of traffic lights turn left into Kingsway, then continue onto Durham Road. At the next major roundabout take the first exit on the left signposted Spennymoor A688. After approximately a mile and a quarter, turn left (signposted Willington, Newfield etc) and continue into the village of Binchester, where 1 Gladstone Terrace is the first property on the left hand side.
The village of Binchester is situated between Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor and is hence handily located for the wide range of amenities offered by those towns. A greater choice of facilities is available in other major centres such as Darlington and Durham City, which are easily reached via the local road network.
Close to Binchester is the Roman Fort, Vinovia, which is currently being excavated and has been featured on Time Team on TV. Close by is the exciting Eleven Arches 'Kynren' project and Auckland Castle, palace of the Bishops of Durham for almost 900 years.
Other places of interest include Durham Cathedral and Castle, Bowes and Beamish Museums, the Locomotion Railway Museum and Hamsterley Forest. The nearby North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a UNESCO Global Geopark.
