Henry was a painter, famous for his portraits of Disraeli and Sir Moses Montefore, and Lady Weigall devoted her life to improving the lives of the less fortunate, especially during World War One. Southwood House gave way to Southwood Gardens during the 1930's, hence the naming of Weigall Place, and it's neighbouring Rose Terrace in memory of the Weigall family.

The house is wrapped around a large paved patio which is a real sun trap from morning to evening; where better to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sun after a hard day's work!

What attracted us most to this house was the quiet location; perfect for us as working shift work we regularly sleep during the day and this house is perfect for that! The location was also a major factor as from here there are convenience shops at St Lawrence, High Street, the transport links via the loop bus and Ramsgate Station are excellent, and we are within walking distance of well regarded primary and secondary schools. We love our secluded patio, and parking is easy right next to the entrance gate. The history also intrigued us and in recent years a lady who spent her childhood living here told us there are two large cellar rooms; we never even knew about; we have not used them but new owners could include then as storage or living space if required.
