Property description

With the beach virtually on the doorstep, this gem of a detached Grade II listed cottage in the conservation area of Deal is a true delight. It has been completely renovated throughout to a very high standard so is just ready for anyone to walk straight into. However, the refurbishment has been very sensitively undertaken so you can still enjoy the historic character of the place with its old brick fireplaces, sash windows and beamed ceilings. The cottage would make a marvellous holiday home and weekend retreat for anyone wanting to relax from the rigours of city life or even for someone looking for an upmarket holiday let. The cosy sitting room opens up to a delightful walled courtyard garden with its mass of lush plants, separate entrance and private seating area for al fresco suppers. There is a charming separate dining room where you can entertain friends and family that leads through to a truly stunning modern and spacious kitchen with doors to the courtyard. The kitchen includes everything an aspiring cook could need, from a built-in oven and hob to an integrated fridge/freezer and separate wine cooler.

The downstairs shower/ utility room and sun room has its own separate door to the courtyard garden. There is planning permission to extend into the courtyard and build another room so this area could become a self-contained unit for elderly relatives, a guest suite or even a holiday/ student let as it can be accessed directly from the external door to the courtyard, so there is no need to go through the rest of the house. The first floor consists of a well-appointed modern bathroom and the delightful master bedroom with hidden wardrobes, while the second bedroom on the top floor will be a thrill for any children.

What the Owner says:

When I first saw this house I was attracted to its sunny disposition and the vast amount of natural light that fills the rooms. Over the past couple of years it has been lovingly restored and refurbished and is now ready for new owners to enjoy. I have family links to the area and love Deal, with its historical association to the sea as well as its friendly atmosphere, long seafront, quaint shops and variety of eateries – making you feel you are always on holiday. There is also a range of well-known shops and supermarkets for day-to-day requirements. The house is near to car parking facilities as well as the street market that occurs every second Saturday and there is also a weekly farmer’s market in the town hall.
It is also an ideal centre for days out, whether you want to pop across to the Continent from Dover, visit castles such as nearby Walmer and Dover or spend the day in Canterbury with its historical buildings and wide range of high-street stores. For local entertainment in the town there is the Astor Community Theatre and Arts Centre and Rivals Night Club as well as a thriving arts and music scene.
Deal is about six miles from the Cinque Port town of Sandwich with its medieval buildings, while the train can whisk you to St. Pancras in under an hour-and-a-half.
