Property description

A Charming and Quintessential Black and White 2 Bedroom Detached Cottage Enjoying a Rural Location Surrounded by a Thriving Community

Storm Porch – Entry Hall – Sitting Room – Dining Room – Reception Room / Study – Kitchen – Conservatory – 2 Double Bedrooms – Bathroom – W.C – Gardens – Sheds – Garage

While externally Buckthorn is the archetypal black and white cottage, internally the flowing design, with light-flooded Conservatory, large picture windows and vaulted bedroom roofs combine to give the property an unexpectedly spacious, light and airy feel.

Bearwood is a peaceful hamlet, home to Dunkerton Cider Mill with its restaurant and café. While just over a mile, Pembridge offers a Primary School, hairdressers, village hall, shop, Tea Room, Farm shop and local hostelries. It lies 8 miles to the county town of Leominster and 16 miles from the city of Hereford.

The Property

Traversing through the double doors of a neat, Quarry-tiled Storm Porch, leads into a wide square Entry Hall featuring useful storage in an under-stair cupboard. The Study has a large picture window with views over the front garden and houses the boiler.

The Sitting Room offers characteristic beams, picture window and a Woodburner nestled in a stone, Inglenook fireplace that charmingly retains its original Bread oven. Sliding glass doors connect to the Conservatory, a recent addition with practical, pale tile flooring and electric underfloor heating. It floods both adjacent rooms with light and provides a secluded spot for morning coffee. Double doors open onto the garden and to a large deck.

The Dining Room is a modern open-plan space, lying between the Conservatory and Kitchen, sharing the pale tiled flooring and underfloor heating.

The Kitchen is fully fitted with light wood units and has twin corner units with carousel swivel racks to maximise storage and is complemented by a solid Oak countertop. It has a Belfast sink with integrated ceramic drainer, double oven and 5 burner gas hob with space for both fridge/freezer and washing machine.  A side door leads through a second Storm Porch out into the gardens.

The Gallery landing features a picture window with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The first Double Bedroom enjoys a vaulted roof and features a charming gable of exposed beams. There is a custom built storage unit featuring a double wardrobe and closet with shelving.  The light and airy feel is endorsed by a window with views over the gardens.

The second Double Bedroom also has lovely garden views and its vaulted roof creates a lovely sense of space. There is a hand basin and a wall of built-in storage offering twin wardrobes and a closet with shelving.

The Bathroom is fully-tiled and offers a classic white suite of basin and bath with mixer tap and shower attachment. A corner cupboard provides housing for the hot water tank and below is a storage cupboard.  Next door is a Separate WC.

Outside

Lovely mature gardens offer secluded areas, expanses of lawn and a deck perfect for outdoor dining in a private afternoon sun trap. Two sheds nestle in the grounds, one prefect for tool storage and the other, benefitting from power connection makes a useful workshop. At the top of the driveway is the Garage, while the drive itself with its secure gate offers ample additional parking.
