Property description

An idyllic village setting with birdsong and Sunday church bells surround this stunning listed cottage which we believe dates back to the 16th Century. It has seen an enormous amount of change over the years and feels like a warm and inviting home that has housed a rich variety of occupants through its time. Bursting with original features and centuries of changing fashion, it now combines modern living and historical interest in equal measure. The delightful living room has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner providing a comfortable space to entertain in or snuggle up with your favourite book.

Extended to the rear many years ago the now dining room would be an excellent place to entertain friends as it has full views overlooking the pretty garden.

If you can tear yourself away from the charming interior, then the surrounding area will not disappoint either. Amberley is a traditional West Sussex village nestled in the Southdown's National Park with everything you need right on your doorstep. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and has a superb rail link and the area is also blessed with good schooling.

There is excellent potential to extend this charming cottage, having had permission granted the owners had plans to replace the current dining room providing a much larger formal dining area, and additional bedroom with a fantastic en-suite, sadly the permission has now lapsed but the drawings are available to re-apply.

What the Owner says:

It's a stunning home to live in, the area is charming with wonderful walks from the village. The station is close by and you can be in central London in a little over an hour.

We have enjoyed many happy years in the cottage and had some fantastic barbecues and parties in the garden. The village pub is a short walk and has a great atmosphere and the local store provides everything you need for day to day living.
