Property description

A fantastic 2 bedroomed terraced cottage with garden in this sought after village.

Located close to the heart of Silverton with east access to the shop, pub, school and church, this delightful 2 bedroomed Grade II cottage is ready to go for a new owner.

It benefits from full mains gas central heating a modern kitchen and white bathroom suite as well as 2 bedrooms to the first floor. Although the kitchen is a galley style, the two access doors, a window and each end and plenty of storage makes it ideal for the size of the cottage. To the rear is an open covered porch (many of the neighbouring properties have had this blocked in to create a larger kitchen) and outside is an elevated garden.

Parking is freely available in the village and just a short distance from the house is the bus stop with services to Exeter and Tiverton (Daily Monday – Saturday).

Silverton is a large village and parish, one of the oldest in Devon – dating back to the first years of the Saxon occupation. Its location is ideal for commuting to Exeter (8 miles south) and for speedy access to the M5 at Cullompton 5 miles away. The church, in honour of ‘St Mary’ is a striking building, with a full set of bells, often heard ringing out. The centrepiece of Silverton is a regal, and gnarled oak tree more than 1000 years old. There are two inns, ‘The Lamb’ and ‘the Silverton Inn’ – both do hearty pub lunches, and pull popular pints of ale, cider and beer. The shop is a ‘Spar’ mini-mart/ post office, with an adjoining old-fashioned butcher’s shop – delivering select cuts of meat and homemade pastries. There is also a hairdresser, for those wanting to spruce up their locks. Annually, Silverton hosts a vibrant street market, in deep summer, with a spectacular spread of local produce, arts and crafts and games for the kids – no childhood is complete without tiger face paint! The C of E primary school is a good one too, with the Ofsted report to prove it. 5 minutes drive down the road (past Ellerhayes) is Killerton house and gardens, an 18th Century manor, reminiscent of something from a Brontë novel. Owned by the National Trust - it has been immaculately kept, and inside features elegant displays of period costumes. Furthermore, the surrounding estate, of secret pathways and mottled woodland glades is a magical place to take a stroll.

Directions

If entering Silverton from the A396 (Exeter to Bickleigh) road, as you reach the mini roundabout, take a right turn into Newcourt Road and No.17 will be found on the left in the cottages after the church.
