Cobbett in 1823 noted that \"nothing could surpass in beauty these dales and hillocks and hangers\". Directions
From Alton town centre, leave towards Winchester on Butts Road passing the green on the right and immediately bear left at the two railway arch mini-roundabouts onto the B3006 Selborne road. Enter the village passing Gracious Street on the right hand side and the property will be found almost directly opposite Gilbert White's House.
