Maghera is a town in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Its populace was 2,876 in 1991 and had climbed to 3,711 in the 2001 Census. It is a business and instructive center point for the encompassing towns of Swatragh, Tobermore, Upperlands, Gulladuff and Knockcloghrim. It is found in the common area of Maghera, from which it was named after, and is a piece of the previous barony of Loughinsholin.
The Slaughtneil/Carntogher zone outside the town is exceptional for being the main provincial group in Ireland outside of the authority Gaeltachts where the Irish dialect is utilized as the essential dialect.
