Sawbridgeworth is a little, predominantly private, town furthermore a civil parish in Hertfordshire, England. Prior to the Norman Conquest, most of the area was owned by the Saxon Angmar the Staller. Sawbridgeworth is four miles south of Bishop's Stortford, twelve miles east of Hertford and nine miles north of Epping. It lies on the A1184 and has a route station that connections to Liverpool Street station in London. The waterway Stort moves through the east of the town, past the Maltings. Hidden the town at some profundity is the London Clay stratum, with a thick layer of Boulder mud set down amid the ice ages, including the Anglian. The dirt on top of this is a topsoil, with erratics of combination known as "Hertfordshire puddingstone" found around the town.
