Area Guide For Ballater

Ballater (Scottish Gaelic: Bealadair) is a burgh in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the Waterway Dee, promptly east of the Cairngorm Mountains. Arranged at a tallness of 123m (700ft) in height, Ballater is a middle for explorers and known for its spring water, once said to cure scrofula. The medieval example of improvement along this span of the Waterway Dee was impacted by the old trackways over the Grampian Mounth, which decided key areas of strongholds and other Deeside settlements of the Medieval times. In the early fourteenth century, the territory was a piece of the homes of the Knights of St John, yet the settlement did not create until around 1770; first as a spa resort to suit guests to the Pananich Mineral Well, then later upon the entry of the railway in 1866 (since shut). Ballater railway station was shut in 1966. Numerous structures date from the Victorian period and the inside of the town is a preservation zone. Balmoral Château, the English Regal Family's vacation home, lies more or less 14km west, and the family has gone by the town often since the time of Ruler Victoria. Birkhall lies around 2km south-west of Ballater.
